Neosho mayor: Ballot measure could be all-or-nothing deal for Neosho
The number of options for navigating the city of Neosho out of its financial crisis may be shrinking, depending on a ruling from the Missouri attorney generals office. Neosho Mayor Richard Davidson said a scenario in which the council could approve a levy ceiling of 42.25 cents may not be available in time for the city to set a property tax levy hearing by a Sept. 1 deadline.

Court overturns adoption at center in teachers firings
An adoption that figured into the dismissal of two Carthage teachers has been overturned by the Missouri Court of Appeals. A decision handed down Wednesday reverses Jasper County Circuit Court rulings that allowed a Guatemalan childs adoption and terminated the parental rights of the mother who had been jailed on immigration charges.

McCune mayor faces recall vote, another misdemeanor charge
McCune Mayor Don Call next month faces a recall election and will have a first appearance in Crawford County District Court on a new misdemeanor charge. The recall election will be conducted in connection with the Aug. 3 primaries, and the court hearing is scheduled for Aug. 23.
